I’ve considered myself a fan of Duran Duran ever since I heard Girls On Film for the first time back in high school in the early 80’s. I followed these handsome young men into my early adulthood and up to the Wedding Album and then I lost track. Somewhere along the line I picked up the dismal Red Carpet Massacre, was thoroughly disappointed, and figured they had evolved into something I was no longer interested in so I stayed with what I knew and replayed Rio a few thousand times. After the recent Induction in the R&R Hall of Fame I decided to revisit all that I’ve missed. And it has been fantastic. I feel like I’ve rediscovered them but also am hearing them for the first time. I have picked up every album and am so happy to be hearing real music again. Astronaut, All you Need is Now, Future Past, and now Paper Gods are all works of art. Even Pop Trash and Medazzaland have a few hidden gems on them. It’s a great opportunity to be able to listen to them all in their capacity as a guide through their evolution of the past 40 years. Looking forward to what they deliver next.
